Replacing the camshaft thrust button requires removing the timing cover to access the front of the camshaft, so plan to drain the coolant and disconnect any accessories mounted to the front of the engine. Once the cover is off, the old button slides or presses out and the new one installs in its place before the cover is resealed and torqued down in the correct sequence. Always verify camshaft endplay with a dial indicator after assembly to confirm the new button brings movement within the acceptable range.
