Starting at $36.95, AutoBuffy stocks 1 manifold absolute pressure sensor kits from Standard Ignition. The MAP sensor measures intake manifold pressure so the ECU can calculate the correct air-fuel mixture. When it fails, fueling goes wrong — expect poor mileage, rough idle, and a check engine light that won't quit.
MAP sensor kits range from bare replacement sensors to complete kits that include the pigtail connector, sealing o-ring, and mounting hardware. Buying a kit over a sensor alone is almost always worth it — the connector and o-ring are common failure points and installing fresh ones prevents a comeback job.
| Option | Best for | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| OE-Equivalent Kit | Restoring factory performance with plug-and-play fit | Sensor matched to factory pressure range, pigtail connector, and o-ring — no modifications needed |
| Economy / Value Kit | Budget-conscious repairs on high-mileage or secondary vehicles | Functional replacement sensor and basic hardware; may lack OE-level sealing or connector quality |
| Performance / Extended-Range Kit | Modified engines with forced induction or raised boost levels | Higher-PSI-rated sensor capable of reading beyond stock manifold pressure ranges; requires ECU recalibration |
| Connector Pigtail Add-On | Cases where the sensor tests good but the wiring harness end is corroded or broken | Pre-wired replacement pigtail only — splice in without replacing the full sensor assembly |
Disconnect the battery negative terminal, then unplug the sensor's wiring harness connector and remove any vacuum line attached to it. Unscrew or unclip the sensor from the manifold, swap in the new sensor with its fresh o-ring lightly lubricated, and reconnect the vacuum line and harness. Reconnect the battery, clear stored fault codes with a scanner, and verify the repair with a short test drive while monitoring live MAP sensor data.
